More interoperability

My first reaction seeing the page in the screenshot below was to get scared. But I am unsure what the second reaction should be: to pity the fools from a certain FOSS project hurrying to give a lot of personal data to the beast in exchange to a small gift (which is "subject to availability" anyway) or to applaud them for emptying the beast's pockets?
In any case, I appreciate the irony of the gift being a bracelet.

  1. "Your USB bracelet will be mailed to you within a few business days." ooh ordered me one instantly. Microsoft/Novell pact rules :P

  2. Interesting that this is about Windows and Linux, yet the first PDF linked on that page is made on a Mac.

  3. I lied about having a company, and I feel so bad about that. Last time microsoft had one of these free USB give-aways, they wrote a few MONTHS later that I wouldn't be getting one, because they don't give them to Canadians. They owe me.

  4. I never knew that they made a website about it... but I don't care: FREE BRACELET!

  5. A free bracelet? It is a 2GB USB Flash Drive in a Stick. Why not? I am so excited about this... I find it a little bit strange that Microsoft is supporting Linux, but hey! A free 2GB USB Flash Drive Bracelet. I'll get mine in a few days! Thanks for the heads up on this...

  6. How is this Microsoft supporting Linux? Is Microsoft trying to sell something, "interoperability" to Linux users.

Fell free to get your USB stick... is probably a 10$ value, if your personal data is that cheap go ahead.

  7. I agree with Nicu. This is really about Microsoft finding a way of selling more Windows licenses, indeed three or four sitting on each Linux server, so more per box really! Hmmm...
