Red Hat Magazine: How to touch-up portraits with GIMP

Red Hat Magazine published this week-end my How to touch-up portraits with GIMP, it is a tutorial about photo enhancement I wrote as promotion for both GIMP 2.4 and Fedora 8, which will include the new GIMP.

You can learn how to improve a poor and boring photo to something more exciting:

Update: now the tutorial is also available in English on [en] my own site and with a [ro] romanian translation.

  1. Once again a nice tutorial. I'm sorry the off topic, but I've installed the gimp 2.4 version you talked about in other post (an rpm someone made) but now the software updater keeps telling me there's an update for gimp, and wants to install the old version of gimp again. How can i solve this?

  2. I uninstalled gimp completely, installed 2.4rc1 from that place and the update system does not want to replace it anymore with the old 2.2.

If it still want to "upgrade" I believe you can edit the yum config and tell it to ignore (exclude=) certain packages.

Note: I see on the same 3-rd party place a newer RC2 package

  11. Great tutorial! So easy to follow and good explanatory pictures. Thank you very much. I used some of the steps and my photo was so much better! I needed to see the original and the modified side by side to see what had changed but when I did I realised that all the small changes made a HUGE difference!
